Chukshon EF! Action Update!

Chuk’Shon Earth First! is back in action again, and, on February 17, we’re
planning the most awesome of actions Tucson has seen in a long time. To
make sure that everything goes as planned we can’t release the exact
details of where the action is taking place. But trust us, it’s not
something to miss. The action is going to follow the Earth First! Winter
Rendezvous happening in the Santa Ritas the weekend before. Everyone is
welcome and encouraged to attend, more information and directions can be
found at chukshonef.wordpress.com It’s going to be about the proposed new
open-pit copper mine that Rosemont Copper is trying to put in the Santa
Rita Mountains. Mines, being horribly destructive and disgusting, are not
things that we can allow to be built. So, meet up on Feb. 17 at 8:30am in
Estevan Park (Main and Speedway) to travel to the protest together. Bring
signs and banners in opposition of new mines, drums and noisemakers,
puppets, dancing shoes, and energy. It’s going to be epic!

From the East:
Take I-10 West into Arizona, towards Tucson. Turn South on Scenic Route
83. (If you hit the exit for Vail, you’ve gone too far.)

Take 83 past Rosemont Junction, turn right on Gardner Canyon Road (dirt).
Follow signs to Gardner Canyon Trail, bear left at the junction with Cave
Canyon Road. You should be on Fire Road 785. The site is mostly on the
left, 8.5 miles from Route 83. If you hit the trailhead, you’ve gone 3.5
miles too far. If you do not need to drive up to the site, please park and
walk down the road. There are two parking areas, one on the left, about a
mile from the site, the other on the right, 7/10ths of a mile from the
site.

From Tucson:
Take I-10 East. Turn South on Route 83. (If you hit the exit for Benson,
you’ve gone too far.) Follow the rest of the directions above.

So this is the new Chuk’shon Earth First website. It is our hope that this will help folks navigate the whats whats with radical environmentalism in Tucson, AZ. We have pages for campaigns, Events and issues that are relevant to the area. We have also provided links for friends and resources.
